Chen Style Tai Chi

Chen Style Family Tai Chi Quan is the original form from which all modern forms of Tai Chi have developed. Around 350 years ago the 9th generation Chen family Grandmaster Chen Wangting created the original Chen Style Tai Chi hand form, weapons forms, push hands and Qigong exercises, combining the ancient 2000 year old Yin Yang philosophy with Chinese Martial Arts movements and breathing techniques.

Tai Chi Quan strengthens bones and muscles, regulates and balances the circulation, respiration and digestive systems of the body and helps prevent the onset of disease.

Qigong

Qigong is a practice which uses slow graceful movements and controlled breathing techniques. Through gentle exercise which incorporates the mind, breathing and body it helps to cultivate and promote circulation of qi within the body, thus enhancing a practitioner’s overall health and well-being.

The Chinese character for Qi, in Qigong, can mean air, breath, or "life force". Gong means work, so Qigong is therefore the practice of "working" with one’s "life force".

The smooth flow of Qi enables our body to function properly and when the channels or meridians are blocked the flow of Qi will slow down or become stagnant then illnesses arise. It is important to keep the Qi flowing.

You will learn routine exercises within the teaching framework of the International Health Qigong Federation and British Health Qigong Association’s curriculum:

8 Treasures, Five Animals, Six Healing Sounds and Muscle and Tendon Strengthening and several others.

You will learn these routines from highly qualified teachers: Pete Hornby (Duan Level 4), Jane Gratton (European Bronze medallist) and Holly Cook (European Gold medallist).
